Throughbred Gelding

Blue was donated to Project ComeBack from Godolphin Racing. Blue grew extremely tall extremely fast, ending his racing career and leaving him with the horse equivalent of Parkinson's Disease called "Shivers" which causes his hind legs to "shiver" or shake. His condition took a turn in the fall of 2024 and we took him to NC State for further evaluation and treatment. Unfortunately he declined while at the veterinary hospital and we were forced to say goodbye to our gentle giant. 

​His autopsy and extensive bloodwork didn’t reveal a clear cause for his rapid decline. What we did find is that he had severe arthritis in both sides of his neck, signs of laminitis in all four feet, and an infection in his lungs and heart. The vets believe his neurological condition may have played a role, but it’s unclear why his health worsened so suddenly.
