Vita

1997 - 2023
Mustang Mare

Vita was rescued from Stroud Oklahoma with Dolce, a young mustang colt. She was so severely emaciated in the kill lot that she spent 8 months in a Texas quarantine facility just to gain her strength back to be able to make the trip to our rescue in South Carolina.

Vita's body looked so tired to us, it seems she was used as a brood mare for many many years, until she couldn't provide anymore. Then she was discarded, thrown away, her body broken and worn. She got to the farm just in time to keep a very depressed Gilligan company after the loss of his life long companion, Ruby.

Only a few short weeks after Vita arrived she suffered the same fate as Ruby, and then later we lost Gilligan the same way. Vita went to Clemson for a necropsy and her bloodwork was sent to Cornel as we try to solve the mystery of what happened to these three horses.

Vita's rescue was fully sponsored by Tina Haseotes, and we are so grateful for her support in giving this sweet old mama a second chance at life, even if she couldn't be with us for long.
